Restarting the Troop 94 Hiking Program

Troop 94 Adult leadership has recently restarted the Hiking Program that was popular many years ago.

As with all BSA activites, the goal is to have fun, participate in interesting activites, and learn some new skills. Hiking and it's close cousin Backpacking are now going to be part of the troop's upcoming activites.

How you can help:
Encourage your scout to attend the hikes, backpacking and camping activities.
    Hike along with us
Help transport hikers (sometimes hiking in a circle is OK, but sometimes, you have to follow a trail to a distant destination)

Appalachian Trail

Hiking on the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania has long been a tradition of Troop 94 and one of the most popular outdoor activities for scouts and adults.

- Day and Overnight hikes are scheduled and are not limited to the Appalachian Trail.

- All hikes must have a minimum of two adults - with at least one adult being a registered BSA leader.

- Scouts are responsible for their own food and hiking gear - excluding tents.

- Troop 94 rewards each scout for individual Appalachian Trail hiking accomplishments.

These accomplishments and rewards are listed below:

  1. First Hike - Appalachian Trail Patch
  2. 50 Miles - Appalachian Trail T-shirt
  3. 100 Miles - Appalachian Trail Hat and Patch
  4. Completion of Appalachian Trail in PA - Jacket
